Concordia Conservatory’s UNIQUE Series presents “Wonderful World of Animals” on Saturday, March 26 at Concordia Conservatory, 884 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. The UNIQUE Series is an interactive, 30-minute concert experience created for learners with special needs and their families and caregivers. Featuring music from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns, the concert is performed by members of the Stamford Symphony and hosted by Liz Ast, music therapy faculty at Concordia Conservatory. Liz will engage audiences with elements of music therapy and family friendly humor while making classical music accessible to the students. The concert schedule is as follows: 11 am & 12 pm Elementary students 1:30 pm Middle School students 2:30 pm High School students Series Artistic Director, Elizabeth Lim-Dutton, a violinist with the Stamford Symphony, worked closely with Concordia Conservatory’s Executive Director Kathleen Suss and Nicolas Gonzalez, Community Engagement and Education Manager for the Stamford Symphony, to bring this truly “unique” series to the community. Conservatory staff Kathleen Moriarty and Lilly Slaughter serve as Series Ambassadors. Concordia Conservatory, which in 2019 incorporated the music and art therapy provider Arts for Healing, is well-versed in providing music therapy and its wealth of developmental benefits. The Conservatory currently provides weekly music and art therapy classes to the Stamford and Norwalk Public Schools, serving 450 students ages 5 to 22.
